GANG CONVICTION A FIRST FOR KERN COUNTY

Three Wasco State Prison inmates have been convicted of gang crimes while in prison, marking a first for Kern County.

Supervising Deputy DA Sara Danville says Randy Torres, Ronald Beltran and Antonio Romero were convicted this week of assault because they’re members of the 2-5 Gang that doesn’t want sex offenders in their prison yard. She says they have created “havoc” and more violence in sensitive needs yards.

The 2-5 Gang is considered a “Drop Out Gang” where former members of other gangs join together to set the rules in prison.
