United Way of Kern County has handed out tacos and advice to tax procrastinators with their annual free preparation service. Natalie Santa Maria manages the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and says they have mostly seen middle income people at Tuesday’s event, but hopes more low income families take advantage of it. Those having their taxes done at the office at Stockdale Highway and California Avenue in southwest Bakersfield were treated to free food on “Taco Tax Tuesday.”
