MORE TREES UPROOTED IN BAKERSFIELD

The city of Bakersfield has begun taking out 750 more trees that died as the result of the recent drought. Recreation and Parks Director Dianne Hoover says the recent rains were too late to save most of our Coastal Redwoods from a major insect infestation.

The removal is part of a two-year, $520,000 plan to take out four-thousand trees, although Hoover hopes some of the Redwoods will be spared. More drought resistant Oak, Pine, and Myrtle species will be planted instead.
