Kern County firefighters were fighting gusty winds as they worked to control a 50 acre grass fire off Highway 46 and Annette Road near Blackwells Corner.

Traffic in the area was shut down shortly after the Lewis Fire started around 6:00 Sunday night. An air tanker as well as San Luis Obispo County firefighters joined the effort as the flames threatened nearby power lines.
