Sheriff Donny Youngblood will not have the Board of Supervisors consider his resolution making this an anti-sanctuary county. County Counsel Mark Nations decided not to put the matter on the agenda for next Tuesday’s board meeting after determining it’s beyond the jurisdiction of the Supervisors. Youngblood was hoping Supervisors would take a stand that Kern County is not aligned with a state proposal to ban law enforcement from cooperating with immigration agents.
