The deaths of a married couple who were found in their Tehachapi home are being investigated as homicides even though deputies do not believe there was a murder. Sheriff’s spokesman Ray Pruitt says a neighbor asked for a welfare check Monday at the home on Kid Place because she had not seen them for the past week.

Pruitt says they often call in homicide detectives when the cause of death is unclear in case something suspicious is uncovered during the investigation.

Detectives suspect the couple died several days ago from medical conditions.
