Bakersfield firefighters are now carrying the drug Narcan to treat people who may have overdosed on opiods. The department says they began the program Monday after extensive research and training on using the life-saving nasal medication. Several law enforcement and fire agencies in Kern County also carry Narcan for overdose emergencies.
