Local non-profit groups teamed up to raise more than $143,000 during the 24 hour Give Big Kern online charity drive.

The Kern Community Foundation put on Tuesday’s crowd funding event and encouraged charities to reach out to potential donors months before the big day via Facebook and other social media.

327 people also offered to volunteer their time with 90 charities.
