FORMER DEPUTY APOLOGIZES ONLINE

A former Sheriff’s deputy is apologizing for his role in a drug stealing scandal linked to disgraced Bakersfield Police detectives Patrick Mara and Damacio Diaz.

In a video posted to YouTube on Sunday, Logan August does not directly say he took marijuana from evidence lockers, but he hopes his actions do not make other deputies look bad. He also apologizes to law enforcement families and dismisses claims of an FBI cover-up over the past year and a half.

August and former deputy Derrick Penney face five years in federal prison if their plea deals are accepted at their May 15th sentencing.
