A State Appeals Court has ordered a new trial for a convicted murderer. The judge says suppression of police testimony undermines the verdict. 29-year-old Jamal Epps was convicted in 2014 of the shooting death of Terry Ellis on Pacheco Avenue in south Bakersfield. The District Attorney will now proceed to retry the case.
