The deaths of two people in an apartment on 20th Street in central Bakersfield were an apparent murder-suicide.

The coroner says 71-year-old Eugene Storer shot 38-year-old Brandy Meza in the head before turning the gun on himself days before they were found on Saturday in his home.

Investigators say the two had been involved in a romantic relationship for the past year, but it’s not known what went wrong.
