Bakersfield firefighters have reopened Station 8 on University Avenue after a two-year, nearly $2.5-Million face lift.

Chief Doug Greener says it was important to keep their spot across from Bakersfield College to better respond to emergencies on the east side of town and the Panorama Bluffs, as well as large scale wildfires.

The project fixed major electrical and plumbing issues and repaired the roof of the 61-year-old building.
