PROSECUTORS: DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

The warning not to drink and drive over the Memorial Day weekend is not just coming from those who will pull you over.Kern County prosecutors are also advising people to stay home if they plan to drink. Supervising Deputy DA Michael Yraceburn says their Office of Traffic Safety created in 2010 has prosecuted over 900 felony DUI cases. Just the first DUI will cost at least $5-thousand in fines and fees, plus higher insurance rates. He also points out DUI’s add up and when they reach four, it becomes a felony. But Yraceburn says the worst thing he sees for those who drink and drive is when they have to face the family of a victim in court before they are sentenced for killing someone.
