The City of Bakersfield will not be accepting palm tree fronds in the green waste collection bins.The reason for the change is because they chew up the grinding machinery. The fronds must be put into regular trash containers as of July 1st. A biomass energy plant in Delano used them as fuel, but it has closed leaving no one else to take the fronds which do not decompose.
