Bakersfield firefighters will be at Hart Park all this month training rescuers to get people out of the Kern River. Battalion Chief John Frando says that is where the most rescues and deaths have been because people think the water is more calm than it is. Frando says most people are getting caught in the brush that grew during the wet winter.
The department is also using a drone to map out the most dangerous areas and scout the best places to launch boats.
