Several businesses and a church have sustained major damage after a fire at a commercial building in Mojave.

It is not known what sparked the flames Tuesday night on Sierra Highway and Cerro Gordo Street, but the heat and a common roof helped it spread. Damage is estimated at $250,000

Firefighters also saved a cat.
