A former corrections officer at the state prison in Tehachapi has been arrested for murdering his co-worker and burglarizing their east Bakersfield apartment twice.

Police say 39-year-old Rigoberto Sanchez fled to Mexico after killing Edward Lima last month on Valleyview Drive near Fairfax Road and shooting at his estranged wife.

US Marshalls will extradite Sanchez to Kern County this week. Police do not have a motive for the crimes but are investigating this as a possible domestic violence case.
