One man has died after two apartment buildings caught fire in northeast Bakersfield.

The flames started just after 4:00 Thursday afternoon on Wilshire Alley near Knotts Street. City arson investigators are interviewing witnesses to figure out what caused the fires. A damage estimate has not been released but several families have been displaced.

Firefighters were able to save a dog.
