A man is in critical condition at a local hospital after his car was hit by a train in central Bakersfield.

City and county firefighters were able to rescue him after he became pinned inside the vehicle Friday morning on 30th Street and Chester Avenue. Trains in the area were stopped for about an hour while he was treated.
