A Bakersfield man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in a fatal stabbing inside a home on Kentucky Street. Deputy District Attorney Ken Russell says Arturo Alvarado was charged with first-degree murder but that count was dismissed as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. Russell adds Alvarado and the victim Raul Valero had been friends, one of the defendants was acquitted, another was convicted of manslaughter.
