An apparent brake fire in a semi led to a small grass fire along Hwy 58, about a mile past General Beale Road east of Bakersfield. The big rig was fully involved when Kern County firefighters arrived around 3:50 Sunday afternoon and a two-acre grass fire had also broken out. The westbound lanes of 58 were closed for a couple hours.
