Police are calling a woman’s death suspicious following an apartment fire on 33rd Street in Bakersfield just south of Memorial Hospital. Sergeant Ryan Kroeker says firefighters found the body inside one of the units late Thursday night.

The woman’s identity has not been released. Firefighters estimate the damage to the complex at $200,000.
