KERN COUNTY VOLUNTEERS HEAD TO HARVEY

Four volunteers from the Kern County Red Cross are in Texas helping people caught up in the major flooding that hit the area following Hurricane Harvey.

Spokeswoman Jessica Piffero says they will be filling a lot of different roles over the next two weeks including surveying damage, manning shelters, and giving people information on where to find services.

The Red Cross has also launched a website to check on loved ones in the area: http://redcross.org/safeandwell
