A California City man is facing 67 years to life in prison after he was found guilty of beating and sexually assaulting his girlfriend.

Deputy District Attorney Christopher Puck says Manuel Castillo beat the victim to the point of unconsciousness, raped her, then punched her again when she woke up. She managed to escaped through a bedroom window. He was also found guilty of beating a police officer after the incident in September 2016.

Castillo had been released from prison a few months earlier for a domestic violence incident involving a former girlfriend.
