The coroner’s office has identified a man whose body was found on an east Bakersfield sidewalk as 52-year-old Lawrence Alvarez. Police say he was found near the intersection of Haley and Monterey Streets early Wednesday morning and are considering his death suspicious. An autopsy is pending.
