Family, fans, and listeners of KUZZ’s Afternoon Drive Personality Chris Conner paid tribute to the man who’s being called “the voice of Bakersfield” during a pair of Celebration of Life events. More than 100 turned out for a private memorial Wednesday afternoon at the Buck Owens Crystal Palace, followed by a public event later that night.

Chris Conner died three weeks ago after a brief illness. He’d been with the station for 40 years.
