KERN COUNTY ROADS GETTING UPGRADE

Kern County roads will be getting a $270 million facelift from the new gas tax that takes effect November 1st.

CalTrans manager Marco Sanchez made the announcement Wednesday at a Bakersfield news conference, and thinks smaller projects like State Route 184 and 204 will now have an equal footing with big ones.

Many farmers have fought the tax, saying an extra 12 cents for a gallon for gas and 20 cents for diesel will make their products too expensive.
