The man charged with killing the former mayor of Wasco in a DUI crash has pleaded no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter.

Investigators say Lorenzo Alonzo also had a suspended license when he ran a red light at 7th Standard Road and slammed into Melvin McLaughlin near Golden State Highway last year.

Sentencing is December 18th.
