FAMILY NAMES CHILD WHO WAS SHOT

The family of a toddler who was shot to death by someone who burst into his home has identified him as Major Sutton, and they also say his five-year-old brother was wounded in the hand. Police Chief Lyle Martin came to the crime scene on Pershing Avenue and 9th Street late Friday night, telling reporters that the three-year-old boy was in bed when he was killed by “an act of violence,” and that he refused to “allow anybody to become numb to that fact.” The boy’s mother, Johniece Williams, is pregnant and suffered moderate injuries, BPD says both she and the baby will survive.
