A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized in stable condition after they stopped breathing in their northeast Bakersfield residence. Police were called around 7:00 Saturday morning to La Mesa Drive east of Union Avenue but have not said what caused the medical emergency.

Three kids home at the time were uninjured.
