NEW HOME FOR THREATENED HAWK

Supervisors have approved an $11.4-Million plan for six replacement habitats for the threatened Swainson’s hawk. Their original home was damaged during construction of the Antelope Valley Solar Project, and Planning Director Lorelei Oviatt says that area no longer has the farm land the bird prefers. Those sites will now be in the Central Valley, opponents say the new habitats are too close to orchards.
