A man has been arrested for holding his girlfriend and her adult son at knife-point inside an east Bakersfield house.

Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Smallwood says Monday afternoon’s incident on Breckrenridge Road and Rancho Mirage Street may have started with a fight between the couple. The SWAT team and bomb squad were called in as a precaution, but negotiators were able to easily get inside the house and convince 36-year-old Mario Cornejo to surrender peacefully a few hours later.
