The man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the head in northwest Bakersfield has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder.

Police say 24-year-old Carlos Garcia killed Alyson Muniz during an argument last Tuesday on Abbott Drive then escaped by running in and out of yards. He was arrested following a SWAT standoff in Lost Hills on Sunday.
