FREE SCHOOL LUNCHES IN BCSD AND OTHERS

Kids in the Bakersfield City School District who depend on free meals at school will not go hungry in June. Spokeswoman Irma Cervantes says free breakfasts and lunches will still be served during summer school sessions this month, and the meals are open to any students and siblings under 18. “No requirements, they just show up to one of our summer school sites, we have 10 this summer, and for a complete list they can go to BCSD.com and click on nutrition services.” A federal grant makes the free meal program possible and a similar lunch program is also offered this month in the Panama Buena Vista school district. The Kern High School District is also providing free breakfast and lunch at several campuses for anyone 18 or younger as is the Greenfield School District.
