The men whose burned bodies were found in an Arvin vineyard have been identified as 42-year-old Samuel Atkinson and 49-year-old Vincent Valdez of Bakersfield. Their cause of death is still unknown, but Sheriff’s investigators think they were killed before being set on fire Wednesday morning on Tejon Highway and Di Giorgio Road.

The man who was shot to death in the middle of an intersection in Taft was 31-year-old David Steelman of Wofford Heights. Sheriff’s homicide detectives are still looking for his killer and have not named a suspect. Steelman was shot on Olive Avenue and Crystal Street yesterday an hour after those two bodies were found in Arvin.
