Assemblyman Vince Fong honored Kern County resident John Abbott as the 34th Assembly Districts Veteran of the Year. Abbott served in the Army during a tour in Vietnam from 1966 until 1969, then transitioned to the Navy where he served from 1975 until retiring in 1993 with several Commendations and and two Bronze Stars.
