The Bakersfield City Council has voted to put a one-cent sales tax measure before voters this November. A study commissioned by the Council found widespread support for the plan to raise $50-million for public safety purposes.

The only vote against the tax idea was Councilman Ken Weir, who worries the money will be used to fund pensions.
