Two people have been killed and another has major injuries following a rollover crash in Shafter, and the CHP says alcohol may have been a factor.

The three victims were passengers in a Honda that was making a left hand turn Tuesday night from Highway 43 onto Burbank Street when it was broadsided on its left hand side by a white SUV. The two who died were ejected.

Witnesses say the SUV had been speeding and trying to pass other cars.

46-year-old Steven Garza has been arrested for driving under the influence, but is being treated for major injuries at a hospital.
