JAILED VETS GET HELP

Kern County will spend $120,000 to help veterans who’ve been in trouble with the law transition back into society.

Veterans Services manager Joshua Dhanens says a staff member helps parolees, as well as veterans in Lerdo Jail, and find and apply for the services they can use.

Supervisors still have to approve the grant from California’s prison realignment fund.
