Cal State Bakersfield is getting a men’s ice hockey team.

American Collegiate Hockey Association Executive Director Christopher Perry says the Runners will play Division II this fall and face off against several squads from California, including UCLA, USC, and possibly Fresno State.

The Runners are a club team, which means the school does not officially sponsors them. The team needs another $35,000 to pay for uniforms, travel expenses, and ice time at Rabobank Arena and Valley Children’s Ice Center downtown.
