Three CVS pharmacies in Kern County are installing prescription medication drop boxes to fight the opioid epidemic.

Pharmacy Services Vice President Tom Davis says many people have gotten hooked by improperly stored drugs, including teenagers and the elderly. Davis says they chose 24-hour locations served by law enforcement agencies with similar programs.

The secure drop off boxes will be inside these stores next to the pharmacy counter:

Bakersfield: 11300 Ming Avenue

Lamont: 8929 Panama Road, Suite B

Arvin: 505 Bear Mountain Blvd. #B
