Ten people were displaced in southwest Bakersfield after their home came close to being burned to the ground. Battalion Chief John Frando says they found heavy flames in the garage and two vehicles burning in the driveway when they arrived on Akers Road about two blocks south of White Lane yesterday [wed] afternoon about 1:20. Frando says the hot weather was a concern but crews were kept well hydrated and no people or pets were injured.
