WOUNDED MARINE GETS SMART HOME

A wounded Marine has been given the keys to his new smart home in south Bakersfield.

Cpl. Josh Brubaker lost his legs after stepping on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2012, and worked with the Gary Sinise Foundation to customize a home with wide enough hallways and rooms for his wheelchair. Brubaker can also use his iPad to do everything from turning on lights to opening cabinet drawers.

The foundation paid for the construction and gave the home to Brubaker tax and debt free.
