NEW INITIATIVE TO PREVENT CHILD DROWNINGS

USA Swimming has launched the “Make A Splash” initiative to encourage parents to buy swim lessons for their kids to reduce the number of accidental drownings.

Spokeswoman Debbie Hesse says it’s the leading cause of death for children ages one through four and the second leading cause of unintentional deaths for children 14 and younger nationwide. Hesse says lessons help reduce that risk by 88% and recommends getting your kids in the pool by four-months-old.
