About 600 local coaches gathered at Centennial High at the Kern County Concussion Consortium to learn how to keep athletes safe. Last night Kern School District Support Services Director Stan Greene said he’s proud of how serious they take player safety. Greene says both heat illness and head injuries are potentially deadly, and when a player shows any sign of something wrong he or she is out for 24 hours and can’t come back until a doctor clears them.
