VACANT HOUSE FIRE

It took Bakersfield firefighters about 10 minutes to knock down a fire at a vacant home on Niles and Haley streets, but they don’t know what sparked it. Smoke was pouring out of the house when firefighters got on scene around 9:00 Friday morning, but there wasn’t much inside to fuel the fire. Battalion Chief John Frando says power lines over head made things touch and go. Frando also says they’ve been responding to a lot of these types of fires this summer.
