BPD, APD, TPD ALSO MARK NATL NIGHT OUT

Bakersfield Police celebrated the 35th Annual National Night Out at Rabobank Convention Center, which is the first year they’ve held the event indoors. Carina Ortiz with Community Relations says that’s because the event always happens the first Tuesday in August when it’s hot, and they wanted everyone to be more comfortable. Kids activities kept them busy, and children of all ages enjoyed the Bakersfield and CHP K-9’s, along the Forced Option Simulator where they pretended to be officer on a call. Police departments in Tehachapi and Arvin also welcomed the public for their own National Night Out events. The one at Tehachapi’s Central Park featured a bicycle and scooter rodeo, a ‘glow walk’ and a movie. The Night Out with Arvin PD had music, face-painting, and food.
