Wasco has canceled the November elections for two city council seats, the city clerk, and the city treasurer because there’s just one candidate in each race.

That’s expected to save Wasco $50,000, which can be used for the police, fire department, or public works instead.

Critics argue it doesn’t give write-in candidates a chance, but it’s unclear if those votes would have been counted.
