Porterville Police have killed a pit bull who attacked and severely wounded a man walking with his child.

The dog had escaped from a yard before biting the man on Road 223 and West Olive Avenue, then charged the officer before he fired. The child was not harmed but a second pit bull that also attacked the victim last week ran away.
