Kern County firefighters are investigating after they put out a trash fire inside a movie theatre at the vacant East Hills Mall in Bakersfield.

Firefighters didn’t see anyone leaving the scene but say the fire was most likely started by squatters around noon on Wednesday. It was knocked down before it could spread to other buildings.
